i’ve created something today which i’d like to share with you ♡

to do this craft you will need either a kitchen with stove and a pot of water, or maybe a cauldron works as well. afterwards it is recommended to have a warm heater nearby. also gather the following:

  • cinnamon
  • fresh basil
  • small papers

basically you just boil some water with a good amount of cinnamon and some fresh basil until you have a strong and dark mixture (i did that for approx. 20 minutes) and then you fill that mixture into a bowl and let your paper soak in it for about 5-10 minutes before you take it out to dry and use.

image

and then you can pretty much use it for any manifestation that you’d like! basil is amazing and attracts happiness, love, peace and money − which are all the things that everyone wishes for; cinnamon does almost the same and gives the whole thing a true power upgrade also.

use paper for: positive affirmations ◦ requests to the universe ◦ writing down wishes and desires ◦ setting intentions and goals ◦ scripting your dream life ◦ showing love and gratitude ◦ different manifestation methods (3x33 or 11x11) ◦ love letters ◦ spells and sigils ◦ literally anything you want to manifest in a positive way ♡

i think this is one genius little ‘do it yourself’ ♡ have fun!! ♡♡♡

How to find your own energy centers/points

When I first started delving into witchcraft, many of the books and websites I read used the chakra system. Not knowing that these were all a whitewashed version of a highly variable system that is part of closed practices, I adhered to that practice for a while. When I found out the history and relevant cultural limitations of this practice, I put it aside. But I didn’t know what to replace it with, so I decided to find a highly personalized energy center system. Here, I’ll share my process with you.

Note: I’m not judging anyone for using chakras, I think the majority of new pagans (at least white new pagans) have probably used them at some point. However, I found cleansing my personal energy points much more effective than when I was trying to cleanse a “standardized” system that was not specific to me. The first time I did it, I was honestly kind of dizzy, but in a good way. It was powerful.

Here’s the process:

Meditate for a few minutes, focusing on your breath and trying to relax as much as you can.

Next, think about what part of your body is affected when you feel strong emotions. This is probably a center of energy for you. For me, I tend to feel difficult emotions like dread, fear, and anxiety in my solar plexus/stomach area, and things like happiness, love, and excitement in my chest, so I identified both as an energy center.

What about where you feel your pulse when your heart is pounding? Is it in your chest? Your neck? Your temples? For me, I am chronically ill and at the doctor often, so I felt the most connection here to my wrists, where nurses take my pulse. For you it may be different!

Where do you feel you process your thoughts most? Are you a “head” thinker or a “heart” thinker? This is probably going to be your head in most cases, but see if a particular part of your head feels more relevant. Do you do a lot of instinctual or intuitive thinking? Maybe this would come from the back of your head, where the more instinctual parts of the brain are.

Once you start identifying significant points in your body, try to really feel them. See if they feel different than the rest of your body now that you’ve recognized their significance. If you aren’t sensitive to energy, they may not feel different and that’s okay, you’ll just have to experiment with cleansing exercises to see what works and what doesn’t.

Extend your awareness of your body outside of the centers you have identified. Does anything else “feel” significant? For me, my spine at the base of my neck, where my neck meets my shoulders felt like one of these points, even though my analysis didn’t have a real reason why it would be important. Trust this instinct.

I have six energy points in my body, center of my head, center of my chest, my solar plexus, the base of my neck, and each wrist. You might have more or less, it’s really individual. Perhaps if you spend a lot of time on your feet for a job you love, or travel a lot, then maybe your feet would be energy points for you!

Try cleansing these points with your preferred method. Personally, I visualize a moonbeam reaching down to me and helping me cleanse each point individually, until my whole body is “glowing” with moonlight. But that’s just my method that works best for me!

Good luck finding your own energy system! I hope this personalized method is more helpful to you than taking someone else’s word for where your energy lies in your body!

there’s nothing purer or better than how much kids enjoy being picked up and then hurled at soft surfaces

turing-tested

anyone who’s ever been around kids for ay meaningful amount of time should know exactly how much kids long to be hefted up and then just fuckin tossed! it’s so good! they’re so excited to get fucking tossed around like a sack of potatoes it’s so pure

abigboysblog

Why do kids love it so much? Like I remember when I was a kid at diving practice during the summer, the best part was when one if the coaches would toss you into the deep end. And in gymnastics coaches would toss us into the foam pit. Do kids just have a evolutionary urge to die?

“Vestibular sense provides information about where the body is in relation to its surroundings. This is the sense that helps you understand balance, and it connects with all the other senses.

When the vestibular system does not develop properly all other senses will struggle to function properly. Without a strong vestibular sense, kids will have no choice but to fidget, get frustrated, experience more falls and aggression, get too close to people when talking, and struggle with focusing and listening. Because they literally cannot help it.”

“Here are a few ways to support your child’s vestibular sense:

  • Spinning in circles.
  • Using a Merry-Go-Round.
  • Rolling down a hill.
  • Spinning on a swing.
  • Going upside down.
  • Climbing trees.
  • Rocking.
  • Jumping rope.
  • Summersaults or cartwheels.
  • Using monkey bars.
  • Skating.
  • Going backwards.
  • Swimming.
  • Dancing.
  • Wheel-barrel walks.”

Yeeting kids, spinning them, flipping them upside down, tossing them in the air, and otherwise disrupting their balance temporarily, is Important For Their Development, specifically for their vestibular sense.

Kids love this because they NEED it.

YEET THE CHILD FOR THEIR HEALTH

hjartaohamast-svohljott

Hi! Paediatric Occupational Therapist here who yeets children into pillows for a living. It’s actually more than the vestibular system! It’s also giving them proprioception, which is the feeling of your joints and muscles / where your body is in space!

We all seek proprioceptive input, leaning against walls, pushing against the steering wheel when driving, giving your body a squeeze to wake yourself up, the list goes on! When we ‘crash’ kids into soft things like pillows or beds, we’re waking their bodies up AND calming their bodies down! In other words, getting them into this super nice zone of “just right” regulation.

When I see a child who is bouncing off the walls and can’t seem to stand still for more than a few seconds? I start wrestling with them, crashing them into pillows, giving their body the right amount of input they need to feel good and organised. And suddenly, this kid is able to sit and play attentively or do their handwriting practice. It’s amazing! If you want to know more about why the vestibular and proprioceptive systems are awesome at making your body feel good, google those two words (and sensory processing) and read through some occupational therapy websites!

Side note: As adults, does your body ever feel jittering/jiggly/wiggly/like it needs to move or calm down but you just can’t figure out why? That’s your sensory system saying Hey! I need to feel differently in order to function better! Here’s what you can do:

  • Jump up and down (vestibular and proprioception)
  • Give yourself big squeezes (proprioception)
  • Place your hands on a wall and do push ups (proprioception)
  • Do cartwheels (vestibular and proprioception)
  • Get someone to give you the biggest bear hug for at least 10 seconds (proprioception and social connection, also proven to help regulate your sensory system into just right zone!)
  • Get a drink of water and drink it through a straw OR blow bubbles into the water (way more fun!) (oral motor input and respiration)
  • Have a shower or a bath (tactile)
  • Stretch and do exercise (vestibular and proprioception)
  • Eat something crunchy or chewy (like chips or gum) (oral motor input)
  • Listen to some music that suits your mood (auditory)
  • etc etc etc! I’m sure you already have a strategy that your body has figured out works for you. I personally like to chew gum when I feel like i need to eat something but I’m not actually hungry and just need that chewing sensation in my jaw.

Long story short, everyone has a sensory system and we all use regulation strategies like the ones listed above to help make our body feel better. So if you ever see someone (especially kids!) fidgeting and having a hard time focusing, maybe suggest something from the list above!

Are you telling me that push ups are the cure for ADHD leg bounce?

sassafrassrex

Push-ups have always been the cure for the ADHD leg bounce but for some reason no one wants to hear it.
